Pictured here is an extraordinary dining room for a new construction in Brookline, MA. The interior design firm for the project visualized a lighting concept for the room with three different features that will coalesce into lighting design that is unparalleled in modern design.
One of these three features is 59 strands of clear glass balls suspended from the ceiling. It is this last feature that I had the joy of completing.
After the design firm contracted a glass blowing company on Cape Cod to create the balls, or "bubbles" as they came to be known, I found myself in possession of 500 glass balls ranging in diameter from 2 inches to 7 inches. Working with the design firm's vision, I used aircraft grade aluminum cable and stops to create 59 unique strands with balls numbering from one to eight glass balls per strand. I then suspended each from the ceiling to create the look you see here.
Once the entire project is complete it will truly be a one of a kind design and one that I am proud to have been a part of. Stay tuned for more photos of the finished work.
